Sweetly Sleeping
Posted by: mommy @ 11:43 am

This may not seem like much to most people, but today is the first day Josie chose to sleep completely on her tummy! Considering that 2 months ago she cried even to be in that position for a second, this is such great progress!

Of course, it could be that PTA meeting she sat thru this morning that knocked her out to where she just didn’t care anymore. Maybe? Or it could be just me that bores her to tears…

First Day of School

We all made it to the first day of school (well, yesterday, anyway)! Mad and Soph are both settling in very easily into their new classes - though for Soph she has an unfair advantage since her teacher is the same as Maddie’s last year. It’s like doing it twice!

Josie has a zillion walks back and forth from school before she even gets to THINK about going here. Poor kid. At least she’ll know the way!

Rockin’ the Hairdo

Josie is (un)fortunate enough to be smothered by her older sisters, who are more than happy to offer beauty and fashion tips, as well as expert styling, like we see here:

Maddie: “Don’t touch the hair, Mom! It’s perfect!”

I’m outnumbered. What can I do?

Getting Happy

We’re having a bit more luck getting the new little miss to smile for the camera. Each day, she just gets more comfortable with everyone, and what we’ve discovered is that she’s a natural comedian. We haven’t figured out how to capture it yet, but lately at dinner she’s been doing this funny googly-eyed shuddering face that she knows will make everyone at the table laugh, and she’ll keep doing it until she cracks herself up! And we thought Sophie was a natural performer…Looks like we may have two in the family (and Maddie will dress them. Starting to sound a little like Destiny’s Child.). So not only is Josie settling in, but we get free stand-up (or is that “sit-down”) comedy as a bonus!

She’s also gradually becoming more active - sitting up more, starting to realize that she can move herself instead of being carried around everywhere. I’m loving that she’s become fond of this little rocking horse, which is just her size and actually is Andy’s from when he was a little bitty one like her.

And of course, she also likes her music - and treating us to her own Phillip Glass impression. Quite abstract, but the cuteness makes it all better. Looking forward to what each new day brings!

Sing It!!

Imagine, if you will, Josie belting it out like Ethel Merman in the…powder room? Sorry for the one obligatory “potty” shot, but she is pretty funny in there. Even though she’s young we decided to carry on with what good habits her Chinese SWI already started - and she’s making every minute of it a hoot! Never had so much fun in a bathroom - and you can tell Sophie’s enjoying being part of the audience too!

“Designers….”

Tim and Heidi, beware. Project Runway is back in season and Maddie’s started fashioning her own creations out of scrapbooking and construction papers. Watch out! Rainbow fashionista on the loose! Due to budget constraints, she is both designer and model right now, but she much prefers to be the designer. Can’t wait until she learns to use the sewing machine! (or maybe I CAN wait…)
